Skills Expected By Experience Level

On-the-job training is a value exchange. Green Guru teaches from proven service systems and field standards. In return, you should arrive with job readiness, understand your role, care for community interests, and execute work that delivers expert-level value.

Company service foundation: irrigation diagnostics and repairs, SRMS smart control + leak-protection tiers, low-voltage landscape lighting reliability, and seasonal service-plan execution that turns monitoring into follow-through.

  • All roles: safe field execution, clean worksites, and professional customer conduct
  • All roles: serviceability-first work (build and repair so future service stays efficient)
  • All roles: accurate notes, photos, and handoffs that support quality control

Senior Technician (5+ years)

  • Own root-cause diagnostics across irrigation, SRMS controls, and landscape lighting
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting: pressure under flow, valve logic, wiring faults, voltage-drop conditions
  • Plan and execute durable repairs, upgrades, and service-plan quality checks without supervision
  • Commission smart control setups and validate tier-fit recommendations for SRMS pathways
  • Set quality pace, coach technicians/helpers, and enforce documentation standards
  • Handle complex customer conversations, risk clarity, and next-step scope recommendations

Technician (3+ years)

  • Run standard diagnostics with limited supervision across irrigation and lighting service calls
  • Execute common repairs cleanly: heads/nozzles, valves, wiring corrections, splice remediation, aiming
  • Install and tune smart controllers, baseline schedules, and support SRMS hardware tasks
  • Complete seasonal plan visits to standard: startup, in-season checks, winterization support
  • Document findings, materials, and follow-up recommendations with clear handoff quality
  • Escalate complex hydraulic/electrical issues quickly and communicate scope clearly to lead techs

Helper / Assistant Tech

  • Safe tool handling, trench/wire awareness, and clean jobsite discipline
  • Support diagnostics with accurate zone checks, head/nozzle swaps, and materials staging
  • Assist startup and winterization workflows and complete assigned checklist steps
  • Perform basic controller inputs, labeling, and clean photo/note capture for lead review
  • Support lighting maintenance tasks: fixture cleaning, aiming support, and connection prep
  • Maintain dependable attendance and readiness during seasonal surge periods

Aspiring Tech (Training Track)

  • High coachability, punctuality, and readiness for physical outdoor field work
  • Learns core irrigation and lighting vocabulary, parts identification, and safety routines
  • Follows checklists, asks clear questions, and repeats standards consistently
  • Keeps clean notes/photos and completes simple task ownership milestones
  • Builds from support tasks toward independent execution of defined field duties

Growth outlook: we are expanding service offerings and route density in our local market. High performers can grow into lead and training responsibilities. Franchise opportunities are not currently a public program, but long-term entrepreneurial interest can be discussed with proven team members.
